Second before Easter
We commemorate all the ascetics and monastics who went before us and who lived in discipline and self-control.
On the fourth Saturday evening at the incense psalms, first the idiomelon of the current tone, then the following stichera in Tone VIII:
As we move toward the end of this lenten journey, * let us celebrate the marvels achieved by all the holy ascetics and monastics, * that we may emulate their virtues and win the salvation of our souls. * Having pondered the life of the Lord Jesus during the past weeks, * let us redouble our efforts to imitate him, * for this is the essence of the christian life * that enables us to gain the Holy Spirit

After the troparion of the current tone, this one, in Tone IV:
O God of our fathers, * ever dealing with us tenderly. * Do not withhold your mercy from us, * but rather, by the prayers of all these holy men and women, * direct our lives in peace.

Kondakion, Tone VIII:
To you, O Lord and light of all the universe, * we present this assembly of holy men and women. * In life, they preached and practiced piety, * by their example inspiring others to the same. * As we offer you our songs of praise, * preserve our lives in peace for their sake, * that we, too, may sing to you throughout our lives: * Alleluia.
